Join us in Lehigh County!
Senator Pat Browne will be hosting a Community and Family Expo on Thursday, July 26, from 3pm-7pm at Bucky Boyle Park, located at North Front and Gordon Streets, Allentown.
This year's event will be celebrating reading in partnership with Lehigh Valley Cops 'n' Kids Literacy Program. Jan Marie Schwartz, the Local Education and Resource Network (LEARN) Coordinator, from Northampton and Lehigh counties will be one of the resource vendors. She'll be distributing Learning Is Everywhere activity guides to the families that stop by to visit her table.
The Learning is Everywhere activity guides have low-or-no-cost activities families can do at home with their children ages five and under. The activities in the guides are aligned with the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards which provide guidance to parents about what infants, toddlers, preschool, and kindergarten children may know or be able to do within specific age ranges.
The guides also have stickers and suggested books to read each month.
Pennsylvania's LEARN Teams build support networks in every county for organizations and individuals interested in quality early education. LEARN Teams bring together early childhood programs, families, school districts, and child-serving organizations to assess which quality early learning programs are currently available in the community and to develop ways to encourage quality early learning. The LEARN Teams also work with school districts and community-based early learning programs to develop ways to make a smooth transition from preschool to kindergarten for children, families, and teachers.
For more information about quality early learning opportunities in your county, please contact your LEARN Coordinator.
