Ethan T. shines at Montgomery County STAR 4 program

Ethan T.Montgomery Early Learning Centers (MELC) Colonial is proud to nominate Ethan T. to be a Shining Star recipient. In the time that Ethan has been a part of our program, he has been nothing but a delight. When Ethan was first enrolled at MELC, he was a very shy individual. However, as he has become acclimated to the program, Ethan has certainly come into his own.

Ethan has thrived in our Keystone STAR 4 program because of the engaging activities, his family’s participation in family events, and his genuine love for learning. In particular, Ethan exemplified his creativity, imagination, and intelligence throughout our Mini Society Program. The Mini Society Program is a hands-on unit that teaches students about economics, government, and ethics. For this program, Ethan was the winner of our create your own money design contest. Ethan created a unique design that was chosen as the best art piece for the design to be printed on our Mini Society dollars. Participating in the Mini Society Program was a high point for Ethan, as he was encouraged to showcase his creativity and imagination by creating products to sell to parents and fellow classmates at our quarterly market day events. Ethan’s group brought in one of the highest amounts of revenue in the program, mostly thanks to Ethan’s design of flipbooks, customized rubber ducks, and airplanes.

In addition to his great work at MELC, Ethan also excels in schoolwork and is a member of the Chess club. Ethan enjoys drawing, helping others with homework, creating Lego masterpieces, and playing a good game of tag. Ethan is a great help to us at MELC and we are honored to nominate him to be a Shining Star recipient.
