Lehigh County family grateful daughter Isabella’s first school experience is at a STARS program

IsabellaMa-LehighWhen Isabella began her preschool experience in September of 2009, she was excited but apprehensive. She had heard all about The Devine School from her big sister, Samantha, yet was weary about attending “big kid school” without her family. The school’s staff worked tirelessly during those beginning weeks to make Isabella feel comfortable and secure in her first learning environment and took the time to get to know her individual needs. In her first year, Isabella had difficulty connecting with her peers, rather “attaching” herself to her teachers’ sides. Through the creativity and enthusiasm of her pre-k teachers, Bella was paired with peers in social and academic settings and was able to develop both social skills and a sense of her own competency and worth. Today, she proudly sees herself as a leader among her peers and has become comfortable initiating social interactions away from school as well.

The incredible creativity of The Devine School pre-k staff brings excitement and fun to the learning process every day. Specifically, Isabella’s current teacher, Miss DB, has created a first learning experience that far exceeds any expectations we could have had for our daughters. Miss DB (whom my older daughter believes is perpetually 12 years old), approaches teaching by matching her students wonder of the world and enthusiasm for life. She teaches not only the basics needed as a foundation to their education, but also a true love of learning, experimentation and expression of self. We are continually amazed at how much Isabella has thrived in her learning environment and how much she learns due to Miss DB’s imaginative curriculum. It is not unusual, for instance, to have Isabella casually counting to ten in Chinese at one moment and communicating via sign language the next. She has developed a true sense of her remarkable potential and has developed a love of learning that will surely be one of her greatest assets throughout her life.

We cannot adequately express the gratitude we feel for having The Devine School as our daughters’ first educational experience. They are a rare exception of talented, dedicated professionals who give their career the focus and energy needed to shape young children’s futures.
