Shining STARS Recognized at Healthy Kids Day/Community Day for Kids in Northumberland County
Celebrating 10th Year Anniversary of Keystone STARS in Northumberland County
The 10th Annual Community Day for Kids event was the backdrop for recognizing local shining stars nominees of Keystone STARS programs in Northumberland and Snyder Counties.
Keystone STARS program, a voluntary quality early rating system for childcare programs where programs meet quality standards for teacher qualifications; learning activities; and working with families is celebrating its 10 year anniversary.
Children from two families were honored as shining STARS for their participation in STAR 4 childcare programs. Siblings, Hayden Y. and Billie K. attend Special Tots Time, a Keystone STAR 4 family home childcare program in Milton.
Hayden and Billie's Mom Rachel states: "It is easy to recognize that Special Tots Time has not only provided a warm and nurturing environment, but has also helped my children grow through creative, engaging learning activities."
Brienna U. attends Children's Discovery Center, a Keystone STAR 4 program in Selinsgrove. "They have caring, qualified staff, a family friendly atmosphere, many learning opportunities and play time" according to Brienna's parents Karen and Daryl.
This event was held April 28, 2012 as part of Healthy Kids Day at Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA in Sunbury. Over 100 children and their families participated in activities associated with the 2012 PA One Book/Every Young Child selection Stop Snoring, Bernard! by Zachariah O'Hora.
