The Early Learning Community is shining in Blair County!
Please join the Blair County early learning community in congratulating area participants of 10 years of Keystone STARS
At the Week of the Young Child Event on April 28, Blair County children added stars with their names to a banner celebrating 10 years of Keystone STARS.
Keystone STARS providers were highlighted during the event with a poster listing their participation and special Shining Star Stickers at each table.
Also, during that week, the four Blair County nominees were given a Shining Star Certificate and books to remind them of their participation in the statewide celebration. Nominees included children from Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries Growing Years Intergenerational Center, Begin With Us Child Care and Preschool, and Lily Pond Child Development Centers.
Heather Campbell, of STAR 4 Begin With Us Child Care and Preschool, writes of the Keystone STARS Program, "We have seen accomplishments in many ways, from our practitioners, parents and children. Practitioners have benefitted tremendously on an annual basis from the high quality nature of the professional development that is received. Our practitioners take their jobs seriously and realize the importance of their role as members of our teaching teams. Some parents have been able to return to work, or were able to take on second jobs, because of utilizing our program and the services provided. Parents are also gaining an incredible amount of knowledge about child development and how to create proper learning time within their homes. Children have made so much progress throughout the school year that they score well above their peers on initial DIBELS testing results when entering kindergarten. They thrive in our well structured and well suited environments. By taking the time over the years to study and implement research based best practices into our settings, our programs continue to flourish and produce impressive results for our community!"
There are currently 36 STAR 1 to STAR 4 sites throughout Blair County. For more information about quality early learning opportunities in Blair County, please contact Cyndi Peterson at 724-774-5782 or email@example.com
