Bedford County Library Connections

The Bedford County LEARN Team partnered with three Bedford County public libraries to offer story time and other early childhood activities during past nine months.

The Bedford County LEARN Team partnered with the Bedford County Library, the Saxton Public Library, and the Everett Free Library to offer a story hour for the public.

Along with the books that were read for the toddlers, preschoolers and young school age children in attendance, the LEARN volunteers also had fun activities for the children such as paining pillowcases, sculpting with Model Magic, and making picture frames to hold their digital photos.

The LEARN Team also assisted the Everett Free Library and the Everett Area School District with their summer reading program. The LEARN co-coordinators assisted them with their activities for the day which including making dream catchers, reading a story about wishes, serving lunch, and supervising activity on the playground. The free community event was available for children from Pre-K through sixth grade.

The Bedford County LEARN Team also provided a story hour for the preschoolers at the Everett United Methodist Church Children's Center in May 2012. The children got to hear several books, and work with the Model Magic to make many fun animal shapes. Information about LEARN, OCDEL programs, choosing early care and education programs, transition materials, and books about kindergarten were distributed during most of these events.
