A Clearfield County mom shares the progress her son, Isaac has made in getting ready for Kindergarten and the role that PA Pre-K Counts played in that progress
Angel is a mom with two children enrolled in PA Pre-K Counts at the Children's Aid Society in Clearfield, PA. This story will focus on Isaac, who attended the PA Pre-K Counts program for two years and is currently prepared and anxious to attend kindergarten.
Angel remembers her son when he started his first year in the program. In addition to having a speech problem, Isaac also struggled with separation anxiety when it was time for her to leave. The teachers were able to turn this around after a few weeks, but they also had to focus on helping Isaac get used to the classroom rules and routines.
To Angel, these issues seem like they happened such a long time ago, because Isaac through the PA Pre-K Counts program and staff was able to overcome these obstacles and even gain additional skills. She laughs when she thinks about Isaac now being able to identify his feelings, she said he is always telling his brothers when they do something to him, that he is sad or angry.
Isaac's mom feels that Isaac now has a good understanding of what kindergarten will be like and he is ready! Angel is proud that he knows his colors and can count to number 14, but was she is most impressed with being able to understand him. PA Pre-K Counts made the greatest impact on Isaac's speech, which makes her happy.
