Community Services for Children and Northampton School District team up for Literacy

Discover how community partners in Northampton County are teaming up for literacy

The Northampton Area School District (NASD) was recently awarded a grant throught from Department of Education through the Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy program. The grant focus is to help improve literacy skills for students, birth through 12th grade.   The program is free for 20 low income children (not federal poverty) who are NASD students.

Community Services for Children (CSC) will be providing comprehensive services, as well as data collection and reporting. Early Intervention will also be a partner in the program. The classroom will be at the George Wolfe Elementary school. In addition to providing personnel, CSC will furnish and keep supplies stocked as well as provide nutritious breakfast and lunch for each child.
